As Builders, Distributors & retailers, we’ve known for many years that a wood deck looks great when it is new. Keeping this new look, however, requires costly, yearly maintenance.

We’ve also found that wood & plastic composites fade, stain, mold and have a very short warranty (10-25 years max). However, The Tandeck Decking System does not fade, stain or have the mold and mildew problems and has a 50-year warranty.

Wood & Plastic Composites vs. All Plastic Decking

We know that a chain is only as strong as its weakest link. The weak link in all wood & plastic composites is the WOOD. The wood (sawdust) is added to the mix as cheap filler which does not hold the color, therefore, it fades. In addition wood is a cellulose material that absorbs water & bacteria. We found that most of the wood & plastic composites are not strong enough to span 16” on center. Our decking is more than adequate for 16” at 60 pounds per square foot. You will conclude from the chart (below) that the up-front price of a deck built with The Tandeck Decking System is the same as an equally appointed deck built with Trex or Evergrain. The price is greater than that of wood, but the 5, 10, & 15-year cost is significantly less than wood. The cost of treated wood and cedar will grow every year because of the maintenance costs.

² 15 years & longer is very possible with a pressure treated deck, although it will never look as good as a Tandeck Deck
